The official training for Muffler Shop Racing has begun and Mick Trompke went into the Thursday session with a lot of plans. “We have to test the car for all eventualities and compare it to the other cars, even though we are much slower. Resiliance is our key word – when the car survives, the team is happy and that’s what we are up for today.”
The session was filled with different strategies, of which Muffler Shop Racing is not sharing any specific details, but the times look good. While the first few test runs were in the 7 minute area, Trompke quickly closed the gap into the 6 minute 40 seconds. By the end of the run, he might have found the setup, they will go for on this Sunday, as he clocked in a 06:33.513. With that time he is still very much in the lower half, but as “the car is the underdog in this race, those times are actually closer, than we predicted” Trompke said. “Should we manage those times on a lap by lap basis and maybe average at around 35-36 over the whole race, we could get some important points for the first race. The car just feels right now, even though we stayed largely with our orginal setup, changing my driving style more to compliment the car and track. Feldbergring is a challenge, but a fun one.”
Tune in this Sunday via your local broadcast to witness this one of a kind race!
