Setting himself up for Reims in the 1949 Coupe des Petites Cylindrees, Andreas Bender felt too unwell to drive. He promissed to be up and well for the next race in the coming week, but will take some time to re-evaluate some of the last races he drove poorly. “It’s a learning process and lying in bed will give me the time to really think about the tough questions, a race driver has to ask himself.”
