Before the event
As the 1937 Campbell trophy gets closer and closer, the Gentlemen are driving in the first very fast laps, while there seems to be no sign of Happe this week. He assured us, that he will drive for sure, but left it open, wether he would put much effort into the practice for this weekend.
Happe finishes 3rd with flying colors
The Talbot finishes on the Podium and Happe seems delighted to be back at his usual pace. While not everything was perfect today – Happe will celebrate this podium after his bad performance on Chrystal Palace for sure.
“Oh, the team is extremely happy to be here today. Everybody did a good work and even though I trained less than other drivers today, the Talbot secured me the pace today. I learned large portions of the track as I was racing the other drivers, and while ERA B and C types and the occasional Maserati were side by side with me, I could figure out quite nicely, which turns I’m overdriving the car or which turns i have more power available. This resulted in us driving 1:50s in the first part of the race, which gave Surve (2nd place finisher) enough time to have a comfortable lead on me, while i was wrestling the car in a pack of 5. Every single one of those drivers showed, what they are made out of today and i wouldn’t have it any other way – this was the true meaning of racing today.
