Rain as the deciding factor – Exciting battle on Nürburgring

What a blast this Monday race was on the Nürburgring Sprint! The evening race, which marks the start of “The Ignition” had everything from door to door racing, to spinning cars, to rain and a drying track at the end. The drivers were ready for the upcoming clouds, or at least we hoped they were.

While some drivers picked Slicks and stayed on track during the rain – pushing through the times, holding on for dear life, others were picking the all-weather tyre, that was much slower in the dry, but made the difference in the rain and it saved the time for the pitstop on top. Other drivers, unprepared, had to pit when the rain got too bad, losing precious time in the process.

It all came down to strategy as “Enot”, Yuri Lobkov decided to run the same strategy as he did in the test, choosing all-weather tyres and running through the end with them. We had a showdown in the last minutes against m00ter, who decided to stay with slicks, but he couldn’t keep them in line with the times that Lobkov was driving.

Of course we got you covered with some of our favorite pictures:
