Feldmühle out of motorsport for good | Happe gets cut before the 1936 season

From the Dresdner Neuste Nachrichten 9th of August 1935

Happe in the wrong car? Feldmühle terminates the contract
Siegfried Happe, who has achieved victories and podium finishes for Germany in his Bugatti T51A since last year, is now facing retirement. Feldmühle is reportedly not interested in continuing to work with the Leipzig driver, which is why the almost 40-year-old will only be allowed to drive the Bugatti T51A for the open-spec race, while the rest of the field will drive 750kg cars. The times possible with his car are six to seven seconds faster than those of the other drivers, and we can only hope that he will make the most of this final race under Feldmühle. If no other sponsor can be found, the Leipzig driver will inevitably face retirement.

The race starts today at 11 and will be broadcast on all available radio stations in the region! Cheer on our Leipzig rider one last time!

Feldmühle pulls the plug

With no particular interest to the sport – Feldmühle decided to pull the plug on Siegfried Happe today, leaving him without any drive for the 1936 season. If there is any chance of him getting a drive in 1936, we cannot confidently say yet, but we will keep you in the loop.

The car is bad, but can reliability prevail?

Happe didn’t want to take an interview this weekend, but from people around him, we heard, that the situation is dire. His car is underpowered by 6 – 7 seconds and can only gain an advantage, if other drivers experience failures. If the Bugatti can survive this whole 37 lap race today remains to be seen

Feldmühle announced the end of their involvement into motorsport in the late morning today, making it clear, that Happe has had a good shot for the Professional Drivers, but couldn’t make the move quick enough. In the interview with the general crowd on track, we got the feeling, that Feldmühle set their expectation for a Professional Driver in the span of a year a bit too high, even though Happe looked at a promising result with his debut being a win. With no notable issues, Happe achieved, what many dream about: Winning and podiums with a car that was reliable in every race. And even if it wasn’t reliable, like in Nancy-Seichamps, he still made 4th position in the end.
