(Golden Era) Muffler Shop Racing secures underpowered seat at the 1925 Eifelrennen

After several talks with the governing body, Muffler Shop Racing secured one seat for the upcoming 1925 Eiffelrennen at Feldbergring and purchased a factory new Voisin C6 Laboratoir for the price of 25.000 DM. The team is confident, that their driver, Mick Trompke, can provide the skill and concistency to make it to the finish line. Coming from a rural area in the east part of Germany, Trompke already knows the terrain and is sure, that is strategy will guarantee points for the team.

While most of the field is already set with cars much faster than Muffler Shop Racings recently purchased car, Trompke tries to play the long game. “we will try our best to keep the car alive and make it to the finish line. This car might be at a disadvantage at almost anything – we still are in the mix for some point, if the strategy is right. You never know what happens at a gravel track like that and some cars might not make it.”

The car

The Voisin Laboratoire is an experimental french racing car designed by aviation engineer Gabriel Voisin. Built in 1923, it features a lightweight aluminum body and a streamlined, aircraft-inspired design, emphasizing aerodynamics and innovation. Powered by a 2-liter inline-6 engine and equipped with advanced suspension and braking systems, the Laboratoire aims to revolutionize automotive engineering. In the 2 years of the car racing, it looked fairly promissing, but faced mechanicial issues along the way. If the 1925 Eifelrennen will give the car the praise it deserves will have to wait until the race.
