“After 2 races now, how do you feel about Latvian Junior Locomotives? Can you shed some lights into what went well and what could be better in the future, especially in terms of Suzukua on Saturday?”
“It has been a rocky start of the season for us. We are currently sitting in P6 in the championship with a long way to go to the top teams. Regardless, I am hopeful about our chances later in the season – especially due to the first couple of tracks not playing into our strengths. The upcoming bunch of tracks, including Suzuka, will for sure deliver better results for LJL.”
“So can you already tell us, what you are shooting for in Suzuka? Any places in sight?”
“No particular targets, but as always will be looking to score as high as possible. Frisa in particular is looking very keen on proving himself after a rough start to the season and the added motivation of our in-team challenge – to score a podium before Monza.“
“It seems you have some bets running on him getting a podium, how realistic is it, with the current speed LJL is driving? Will consistency be a bigger factor than raw speed?”
“Constistency has definetly been an aspect which has been holding us back so far. Both me and Gioele have been rather mistake-prone in the opening races and this needs to change. In my opinion, a podium finish is definetly on the cards for us, but work needs to be put in to achieve the results we want to see.”
“And how much practice will you put in this week into Suzuka? Will there be 200 laps like Mike and Wesley Van der Burgt last week, or is that not nessecary for LJL? How do you guys learn the best? Are the both of you talking through strategies already?”
“I think one of the biggest strengths of the LLL and LJL system is our ability to produce the best setups for our cars. If you have a fast and stable setup, it significantly reduces the need to put in hundreds of laps in practice, especially in tracks like Suzuka where a lot of the time, you will be driving on the edge. With that being said, we will still aim to heavily refine our lines and understanding of the track during preparations for the event.”
“Any thoughts about T1 at racestart?”
“Divebomb.”
“Are you saying, that you will divebomb in T1?”
“Always. Company policy.”
“Thanks for your time, Mikus.”
“Thanks.”
