As we have now concluded most of the race at Baku, we wanted to know how Arrownet SSI E-Sports specifically dealt with the troubles of the track. We asked Ciro Bruscino, who had some problems at the start but a solid result. But what did he think about the first race of the season?
To be honest, bad feelings at the moment. I was fourth (with a slower pace | respect to the 4-5 drivers behind me) but instead of avoiding any mistake until the pit stop to maintain as much as possible positions, I did a lot of mistakes. I think when my tyres started to degrade I couldn’t push too much without spinning the car.
I have to work on that. In free practice I was quite fast and P13 wasn’t expected but, also taking Miami as reference, the expected position was between P8 and P12
It seemed like Ciro was especially having trouble with his tyres and upcoming drivers in the race:
I have to withstand the pressure from faster drivers behind me and avoid mistakes due to worn-out tires with non-optimal grip. […] For Baku and Miami, I only trained myself to push the car to its limits with optimal grip.
The outlook for Magione is not too bad, as Ciro will be ready for the competition:
More practice with worn-out tires, studying how both my limits and the car’s limits change throughout the race. I will learn how to properly attack and defend while racing with these guys. They are very capable, and I will learn a lot from them! I will also pay more attention during the first few laps to avoid any contact. I almost ruined Actin’s race due to a small mistake. I touched his car lightly from behind while he was turning through a corner, and he ended up spinning out.
