The fastest lap and probably the team with the most experience in terms of setups is MIke Van Der Burgt from the Burgt Racing team, that set a mind blowing lap of 01:56.134, 1 tenth of a second faster than Artūrs Edvards Gavars from the Latvian Lightning Locomotives. At further questions to the team, some revealed there feelings about the week leading up to this:
“Honestly get used to the car and the setup making process. I was quick in practice my time was on a full load of race fuel so I probably have some race pace, however still need to work on quali pace. Lobkov is doing great with the setup side of things. I, Lobkov and Mativeri are also getting used to driving the car how it behaves on the limits where we can improve by looking at the telemetry and so on.” ~Aditya Surve (LAME Motorsport)
“My goal and James is surviving. We dont get along with the track very well.” ~Matei Oltenau (HighSpeed Racing)
playing it safe, today will set our goals ~Claudio Diana (Arrownet SSI Esports)
For me, its to finish the race and be consistent, that way we can see where we place compared to the other teams and other drivers. Also to see how we can improve as a team and be more competitive. I am personally hoping that the team can be top 50% overall but we will see on track. ~Tyler Schlebusch (Muffler Shop Academy)
In the hours leading up to this big race, everybody is already in the paddock, talking through setups, fuel and tyre strategy. The winner today will surely make an impression on the series overall, but there are also some drivers who rather miss Miami Bayside today to prepare for Baku at the start of 2025.
Christian Potenza is part of the free practice! Will we see him in the future?
The rumors that were talked about in the paddock were confirmed an hour ago. Christian Potenza is on the free practice, but after some question, he rather not tell for which team yet or even if he is on a written contract. Without any further comment, he jumped into a Tatuus and started setting lap times. No matter where he will end up, he will be a valueable team member for every team, that takes him.
