“this race took so much effort holy” ~Tyler Schlebusch
“congrats everyone, but for me one of the worst races i raced ever.” ~Mike Van Der Burgt
“still wouldnt be enough he (Biberacher) was like 7 sec ahead and i had like 7 min to go.” ~A. E. Gavars
Grobnik as a starter might have been the best decision. The season starter had a filled grid that saw a lot of battles. In the last season, we saw battles every second. Some of the Highlights involved:
Mike Van der Burgt vs. Michal Sulc for P8 (Burgt Racing Team vs Muffler Shop Academy)
Michal Janak vs Tyler Schlebusch for P4 (Broken Gears vs Muffler Shop Academy)
A. E. Gavars vs Biberacher for P1 (Latvian Lightning Locomotives vs MSC Al-Corsa)
A. E. Gavars vs Wesley Van Der Burgt (Latvian Lightning Locomotives vs Burgt Racing Team)
It was very good to see a clean Turn 1 after the green light of this race and while the start was clean, the coming turns were only soured by an incident involving Michal Sulc and Mitchell Fusco, that ended Fuscos race early. We also saw a very rough bump that ended Machados race, when Matt Contreras (Nordoaker Racing) hit him at Sikana, where he lost it, went off track and had to get his car towed to pits.
With all those battles on track, it’s safe to say, that this IS one of the best races in the Friendship Cup overall. Last season we saw the Estonia 21 giving Grobnik a go and it was just as entertaining. It’s safe to say, that although Grobnik wasn’t part of the historic races of the Cup of Peace and Friendship, it will stay in calendar for the forseeable future.
Season 4 as a tribute to the Road Runners
As for the upgrade and the choice to go for the Estonia 25, Muffler Shop is doing a tribute to the Estonia 25 series by Road Runners, that features tracks like Grobnik, Horsma and VIR.
“In essence, we want to recreate the feeling of the Estonia 25 series and bring it into a well known environment like the Friendship Cup, so the 4th season was a perfect fit, since we were already using the Estonia 21. The upgrade to a faster an newer car also gives people a breath of fresh air and with an open setup, everybody will be able to tune this highly customizable car to their needs!” ~Mick Trompke, Organizer
