Today Latvian Lightning Locomotives publicly announced that Tomas Veilentas (1500 Pace Rating) will play the role as a reserve driver for the upcoming championship! With this, the main team, lead by Artūrs Gavars will hopefully be prepared for the first season.
Artūrs Gavars talked us through the role of Tomas for this upcoming season: We asked:
Artūrs, Do you think Tomas will be a valuable member to the team and are you already talking about his role? Will he be a spotter? Will you have to decide between him and Kristers for the race if their times are similar or does Tomas only come into play, when Kristers can’t make it?
It’s incredibly exciting to welcome Tomas Veilentas to the Latvian Lightning Locomotive team for the Tatuus World Series. As a Lithuanian joining me and Kristers, we’re forming a true Baltic trio. I think it’s amazing to have this kind of regional collaboration on the international stage. Tomas brings his own unique talent and perspective, and I’m confident he’ll strengthen our team dynamic. Due to his occupation on the weekend’s his role will mainly focus on replacing either me or Kudlis if we are unable to attend a race. Together, we’ll represent the Baltic region with pride and determination. This season is shaping up to be a special one, and I can’t wait to hit the track with these guys by my side!
So far, we have seen a very sensational 2nd place from Kristers Kudlis in the second round of Lotus Exos 125 race in Baku, where Artūrs Gavars secured himself the 3rd place and the final place on the podium.
But we haven’t seen that much about the other part of the junior Team, which is the brother of Mikus Actiņš. Kristaps Actiņš, who hasn’t driven much so far, might prove to be a wildcard in the season, if preparations come to fruition.
